Tracks 4 D Day, Cyclonious Feature
This Track 4 D Day digs into samples from the British/Brixton Hip Hop artist Cyclonious
Hello all,
I came to know the work of Cyclonius from a different and curious direction. While working late hours in the original office, the playlist was on shuffle and “sounds like.” This feature has not let me down.
My ears piqued when a track from Cyclonious came through. I was working on a new article submission to pitch to journals. The sound and lyrics of his work captured my attention. I knew I had to find a way to get his work in the article.
Long story short, the article bombed. No publisher would go forward with the work. Most comments were put off by the work of Cyclonious. Regardless, I pressed forward and continued to share and support his work.
Coming from the Brixton area (UK), Cyclonious has the true African diaspora background. His critique of culture, politics, and the global issues layer within the powerful driving beats. His lyrics may not be clear at first listen. They articulate across disciplines and follow a traditional rap style. There’s no modern reductive rap performance here. Cyclonious “spits” real language through a knowledgeable lexicon.
The work he shares with his colleague, Nate, holds its own. Together, this duo contextualizes a necessary voice in the ocean of “hip pop pollution.”
Below are a few tracks. The majority of his work can be heard on Global Faction.
